MARCH
The nomination forms for the Aguilar Gymnasium to the local List of Historic Properties in the Town of Aguilar, were reviewed by the Aguilar Preservation Advisory Board and the gymnasium which is one of 3 buildings remaining built by the WPA workers in the late 1930s has been added to the List of Historic Properties for the Town of Aguilar.
APRIL
The first draft of the Cultural Survey of the Town of Aguilar will be available for the public to see at the Aguilar Town Library. Our monthly meeting will be held on April 10th at the Aguilar Community Center, 1:00 PM. We encourage everyone to attend.
A group trip to the Southeastern Colorado Heritage Center in Pueblo is planned for Wednesday April 23rd. If anyone is interested in going with the group please contact us at least one week prior. Everyone is welcome.
MAY
Museum/ historical center coming soon! Watch for our “grand opening”
We will begin working on the preparations to open a small museum on Main Street in Aguilar.
We welcome anyone who can assist us with materials, skills, and time to volunteer to man this facility when we open. Please contact us if you can help. This museum will be sustained by your donations of cash, historical artifacts, and volunteers. We are going to try to be open by Memorial Day Weekend. Watch this site for news on this exciting venture.
JUNE
The summer promises to keep us busy with the opening of the museum / historical center.
Our “tourist information brochure” will be available for tourists and locals who wish to enjoy the beautiful drive from Aguilar to the top of Cordova Pass. The spectacular view of the well known Spanish Peaks and the trails and abundant wildflowers at the summit, make this a wonderful addition to your summer vacation. The brochure will also be available at the Aguilar’s City Hall, the Town Library and the Welcome Center in Trinidad.
JULY
The annual Aguilar Days Weekend is being planned for July 19th and the one day event has been renamed Aguilar Fest. Look for our new location for this fun filled day. No other information about the event is available at this time. Watch for an update.
