June 2010:

Once again we are in need of volunteers to help keep the Apishapa Valley Heritage Center open. Our schedule is Friday and Saturdays from 10:00 to 2:00 pm.

Donations are important but in order to keep our doors open, our success will rely on volunteers. You can help for just an hour or two a week or just once this summer to help keep our doors open.

Our goal is to share our collection of photos & stories about the history of the area which includes early stagecoach stops, coal mining in the surrounding hills and the fascinating stories of the Prohibition era the town is notoriously known for.

Photo Contest:

We are sponsoring an "amateur photo contest" in search of the best photos taken in the Apishapa Valley area. Subject of your choice can be submitted in color, black & white, or on cd. Please give age if under 18 years of age…and a brief story about where the photo was taken.

There are 2 categories; historic photos & photos taken after 1999. There will be prizes awarded in 3 age categories.

Up to 12 years of age/ 13 to 18/ & adults.

Entries are being displayed at the Heritage Center with the deadline being September 1st.

Winners will be announced September 4th and will be displayed at our annual "Fall Chili Dinner". Watch for the date of this much anticipated annual event.
